Jon Hegerle- Foss Wellness Center Director
Jon Hegerle returns for his fifth season with the Jimmies as head volleyball after four very memorable seasons. From 2009-2011, the Jimmies were back-to-back-to-back DAC champions and Hegerle was named the conference Coach of the Year all three years. In 2012, the Jimmies set a school record for wins (27), placed second in the A.I.I. Tournament, and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
Hegerle came to Jamestown from Marshall, Minnesota, where, since 2003, he was top assistant volleyball coach and a social studies teacher at Marshall High School. Marshall posted a volleyball record of 166-31 and reached the state tournament each year during Hegerle's six years on the coaching staff.
A 22-year member of the Midwest Volleyball Instructors staff, Hegerle has directed and coached camps across the upper Midwest. He has also coached at Apple Valley, Lakeville North and Eastview High Schools, all in Minnesota. Before coaching, he was a player on the Association of Volleyball Professionals and Midwest Volleyball Professionals for three seasons. Coach Hegerle began his career as a player and coach for the St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) men's team. He continued to pursue volleyball after St. Olaf, gaining recognition as a top indoor and beach volleyball player in the US. He holds a degree in sociology from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., and a degree in education from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
He and his wife, Sara, have three daughters: Josie (17), Grace (10), and Edie (7).
